How Therapy Helped Me Over My Loss
personal
I used to be a successful marketing leader, always motivating others. I thought I could handle anything life threw my way. Then, COVID hit. I lost my job which was the main source of income for my family, and tragically, I lost my sister to COVID.
Back then, I didn't know how to deal with grief. I just tried to forget and move on, not realising the impact it would have later. Fast forward to 2022, I had a new job and things were going well. But then, a colleague's suicide triggered the buried emotions. I withdrew myself from everything, couldn't focus at work, and felt overwhelmed by sadness.
My company offered me some time off, but I ended up completely isolating myself. I even lashed out at friends who tried to reach out.
But when a friend suggested therapy, it was a turning point for me. My counsellor provided a safe space to talk about everything I was feeling and even prescribed medication to help manage my emotions. Slowly, over 10-15 sessions, I felt myself getting better.
Therapy helped me understand my grief and anger, and most importantly, gave me healthy ways to cope. I still go to therapy twice a week – it's become a way for me to process my emotions in a positive way.
You don't have to suffer alone. There are people who care and want to support you through tough times. If you're seeking professional help, consider exploring options like online therapy or connecting offline with a therapist in Chennai
