The Story of a Tiny Thank You

We all know the feeling of receiving a gift. It's double the happiness when we receive a thoughtful gift or gesture. Ever wondered why? It's because in the hustle and bustle of daily life, how often do we take a moment to notice the good things we have in life, big or small? A small gesture of gratitude can indeed change a person's life, even if it doesn't, it will at least change their day. So, what is the science behind it?

Understanding the Depths of Gratitude

We live in a world where gratitude journaling is a mainstream idea, but the reason it's become so popular lies in understanding the depths of gratitude's impact. Positive psychology shows a great relationship between happiness and gratitude. Studies suggest that practicing gratitude helps a person deal with stress and burnout too.

As humans, we are interdependent and nature too. A moment of gratitude also arises when we realize that we may not be wherever we are in life without the efforts of others.

We can't seem to shake off the feeling: is gratitude a momentary feeling, like joy or ecstasy? Well, it may not be the case. Contrary to popular beliefs, I feel gratitude is not a single emotion but something that involves both a thought and a feeling. Because, let's be honest, when you're experiencing a loss, breakup, or failure, it's not that easy to experience and see the little positive things around you and appreciate them. It takes more than just feeling it; it's a conscious thought and a mindful practice to sense gratitude. But, of course, it gives us those little moments of happiness which help us deal with everything else better.

So why not? Say a little thank you, feel a little grateful, and watch gratitude go a long way. It may not be a happily ever after story, but a story that will help you deal with both happiness and sadness better.
